Please keep the Priests that celebrate the Traditional Latin Mass in your prayers. St John Mary Vianney said:
‘If I were to meet a priest and an angel, I should salute the priest before I saluted the angel. The latter is the friend of God; but the priest holds His place. St. Teresa kissed the ground where a priest had passed. When you see a priest, you should say, “There is he who made me a child of God, and opened Heaven to me by holy Baptism; he who purified me after I had sinned; who gives nourishment to my soul. ” At the sight of a church tower, you may say, “What is there in that place?” “The Body of Our Lord. ” “Why is He there?” “Because a priest has been there, and has said Holy Mass.’

Chartres Pilgrimage

Chartres Pilgrimage
Five young Roman Catholics joined the 50 other young Traditional Catholics from the UK for the Chartres Pilgrimage - 75 miles - and the weather was hot (30 degrees - 86 Farenheit). Approximately 8000 young Traditional Catholics from around the world walk this Pilgrimage each year!
Three Priest from the Clifton Diocese also walked this Pilgrimage - Fr Goodman, Fr Redman and Fr Rowe.
It is an incredible experience and a great opportunity to meet other young Orthodox Catholics and to experience the Holy Mass and have Traditional Devotions and Mediations each day.

Patron Saint of Students

For the students undertaking exams:
Saint Joesph of Copertino (1603 - 1663) was a Francescan friar. Invoked by students as Patron because, with the help of the Lord and Our Lady, he overcame the may difficulties be faced in his studies.
The Lord enriched him with qualities such as wisdom, prophecy and levitation, the reason for which his was known as the 'The Flying Saint'.
His body is kept in Osimo (Ancona) in the splendid sanctuary dedicated to him.
Prayer
Saint Joseph of Copertino, patron saint of students, saint of joy, master of prayer, enchanted by the gospel and the Eucharist, accept my prayer with kindness.
You who have always faced the difficulties of life, without ever straying from the divine will, which you returned with faith and constant commitment; now understand the special state of mind in which I find myself and intercede via Our Lord so that he may grant the grace I so need... let me feel the divine presence and help me to follow, with your example, in his will.
Trusting in your protection, I renew with much faith my intention of gratitude and goodwill and I confide in your support
In Christ our Lord. Amen

Lesser Known Roman Rubrics: The Sanctus Candle
![]() |
An example of a Sanctus Candle being lit during a Low Mass - Copyright Dr Shaw LMS Chairman |
On Saturday 05 May 2012, Father Redman (St Dominic's - Dursley) celebrated Low Mass and during the consecration a third candle was lit by the Server (David Aron). This third candle, known as the Sanctus Candle, is placed on the Epistle (right) side of the altar.
According to the rubric of the missal, the Sanctus Candle may be lit from the consecration to the communion, however, this is no longer extensively observed. This old and beautiful practice of the Sanctus Candle draws attention to our Lord's Real Presence on the Altar during that portion of the Holy Mass.

May Holy Mass and Juventutem Social Report
'When Mass is being celebrated, the sanctuary is filled with countless angels who adore the divine victim immolated on the altar' St. John Chrysostom
Juventutem Bristol are grateful to Fr Thomas for celebrating the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass, Fr Goodman for hearing Confessions in the Traditional Rite and for Fr Redman assisting at the Holy Mass on Wednesday 02 May 12.
Please keep these Priests in your prayers. St John Mary Vianney said:
'If we had not the Sacrament of Orders, we should not have Our Lord. Who placed Him there, in that tabernacle? It was the priest. Who was it that received your soul, on its entrance into life? The priest. Who nourishes it, to give it strength to make its pilgrimage? The priest. Who will prepare it to appear before God, by washing that soul, for the last time, in the blood of Jesus Christ? The priest -- always the priest. And if that soul comes to the point of death, who will raise it up, who will restore it to calmness and peace? Again the priest. You cannot recall one single blessing from God without finding, side by side with this recollection, the image of the priest'.
Thank you very much for those that came along to the Mass and to the Juventutem Social to meet other young Catholics. Looking forward to the next one!!

SPUC Pro-Life Vigil Bristol - Thank You
THANK YOU to everyone that attended the SPUC kerbside vigils against abortion on Saturday 28 Apr 12 to bear witness to the sanctity of life and for those who prayed at home!
Let us continue to keep in our prayers the women that carry the pain and sorrow of having an abortion and that Our Lady may comfort them; and for the conversion of heart for those who agree with abortion. Mater Dei, ora pro nobis!
St Francis of Assisi said 'remember that when you leave this earth, you can take with you nothing that you have received - only what you have given: a full heart, enriched by honest service, love, sacrifice and courage.'

SPUC Pro-Life Vigil Bristol
There will be a silent witness in Bristol as part of SPUC’s Kerbside Vigils on Saturday 28 April 2012 at the Hippodrome between 11.00am – 1.00pm. This is to give silent witness to unborn babies killed in the 44 years since the implementation of the Abortion Act, as well as to the hurt caused to women by abortion.
It is important that we attend the silent witness and defend the unborn! We need to show that life is sacred. Please show your support by attending. There will be a counter-protest so we need as many pro-lifers to attend.
If you cannot attend then please pray especially the Holy Rosary and if you have time the Litany of the BVM at home or wherever!
The most effective weapon against abortion is prayer and particularly the ROSARY. It can save lives and convert people. Pope Leo XIII said ‘it is the remedy for all our evils, the root of all our blessing.’ It ONLY takes about 20 minutes to pray the Holy Rosary.
